Email received from Pepperstone:

Hi,

Theresa May’s snap UK Election is set to take place on Thursday the 8th of June. Given the recent terror attacks in London, the race is closer than expected as the election focus shifts from Brexit towards national security.

How will this impact markets? Trading opportunities should be plentiful for GBP, EUR, CHF and UK and European indices in the lead up and following this global event as market volatility increases. During this volatile period, we kindly advise our clients to carefully consider and evaluate the potential impact of the event on your existing and future positions on these products.

Please also consider that liquidity providers may limit their liquidity, leading to the widening of spreads as well as potential increased amounts of slippage on executed orders.

As always in times of volatility, please ensure that your account is adequately funded to manage your open positions as there may be an increased risk during this time.

Currently there are no planned changes to margin requirements during the UK election. However, due to the uncertain nature of this event please be advised that this policy is subject to change. Should trading conditions change on our products, Pepperstone will endeavour to contact you via email, MT4 or by changes made to our website. However, we reserve the right to make further changes without notification such as increased margin requirements, trading restrictions on certain products or any other such matter.

Feel free to contact support if you have any questions about this trading hours change or if there is anything else you would like assistance with.

Kind regards,

The Pepperstone Team
