AvaTrade introduces Futures trading via its new platform
AvaFutures offers micro, mini and standard futures contracts.
The broker provides futures contracts for indices, commodities, currencies, treasuries, cryptocurrencies and metals.
AvaTrade, a forex and contracts for differences (CFDs) broker, has expanded its offerings with the launch of a dedicated futures trading platform, AvaFutures. Launched yesterday (Tuesday), the new platform offers micro, mini and standard futures contracts.
The launch of AvaFutures
As can be seen on its website, AvaFutures provides futures contracts on a range of asset classes, including indices, commodities, currencies, treasuries, cryptocurrencies and metals. The company also highlighted that it is pricing standard contracts at $1.75.
Founded in 2006, AvaTrade is an Ireland-based brokerage offering retail forex and CFDs of stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), cryptocurrencies and other asset classes. The latest futures offerings are an extension of its existing services to retail traders. It also offers options trading under the AvaOptions brand.
The Irish broker is also well regulated, as it holds operational licenses from the authorities of Ireland, Australia, South Africa, Japan, United Arab Emirates, Cyprus and Israel. AvaTrade may offer its services under any of its licenses, depending on jurisdiction.
Besides expanding its products, AvaTrade is also focusing on geographies and plans to obtain a regulatory license in Spain, strengthening its services within the European Union.
CFD platforms are moving towards futures contracts
Meanwhile, AvaTrade is not the only broker seeing value in futures, as other brokers have also launched futures offerings in recent years.
In 2021, Plus500, a London-listed FX and CFDs broker, acquired Cunningham Commodities and Cunningham Trading Systems, two US-based companies, and launched futures trading for its US clients. Furthermore, Ingmar Mattus, the founder of Tickmill, another foreign exchange and CFD broker, recently launched MetroTrade, a futures trading platform on the American market.
Interestingly, an earlier Acuiti survey found that over 50% of European brokers would look to offer futures and options rather than over-the-counter instruments, such as CFDs.
