XTB grows by 441,000+ accounts in Poland!

Email received from XTB:
According to data from the Polish Central Securities Depository (KDPW), XTB opened 441,400 new trading accounts in Poland last year, further solidifying the fintech's presence in a domestic market that has surpassed 2.4 million accounts for the first time.
The publicly traded broker (WSE: XTB) added 63,400 accounts just last month, bringing its total to 821,749 and giving it nearly one third of all securities accounts registered with the KDPW.
Last month's number represents the industry's best monthly performance since April 2010, when Polish brokers collectively added 141,000 accounts.

December surge due to rush into retirement accounts
The surge recorded in December reflects the intensified marketing efforts surrounding IKE and IKZE retirement accounts, which offer tax advantages, as the year-end contribution deadline approaches. The total number of brokerage accounts in Poland jumped by 100,374 in December, more than double the monthly average of 42,000 recorded over the previous 11 months.
IKE accounts offer tax-free withdrawals after age 60, while IKZE contributions allow high-income earners to benefit from immediate tax deductions of up to 12%. XTB introduced access to the IKZE in the middle of last year, while the IKE was added to the multi-asset broker's offering in October 2024.
Towards the end of 2025, Polish brokerage firms engaged in a price war to attract new clients, driven by an increasingly saturated domestic market and growing foreign competition. The German fintech company Trade Republic entered the Polish market with the aim of disrupting the local landscape. As a result, brokerage firms began reducing their commissions on a large scale.
Market growth follows the upward trend of the Warsaw Stock Exchange
The 565,000 additional accounts opened in the Polish brokerage sector in 2025 also coincided with a historic recovery of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The WIG index gained 47% last year and broke the 100,000-point mark for the first time in April, while record trading volumes propelled the exchange's second-quarter revenue to unprecedented levels.
XTB is seeking to attract new customers by promoting its brand through sports-focused marketing campaigns. To this end, the broker recently entered into partnerships with one of Europe's two largest mixed martial arts federations and with combat sports athletes, including Conor McGregor.
Traditional banks post modest gains
mBank's brokerage division finished second in the KDPW rankings with 532,928 accounts, having added 62,225 during the year. December brought 27,952 new accounts to mBank, its best monthly performance in the data.
PKO BP's brokerage division ranked sixth with 178,873 accounts, having registered 19,001 new accounts in 2025. Dom Maklerski Banku Ochrony Środowiska completed the top three with 17,402 new accounts for the year, including 5,902 in December.
KDPW figures include all accounts with access to Polish markets, regardless of their level of activity. Brokerage firms periodically close inactive accounts, which can lead to temporary decreases in the reported totals.
XTB also ranks among the world leaders in terms of active CFD market clients. In the third quarter of 2025, eleven brokers worldwide exceeded 100,000 active accounts per month, with the Polish broker holding the top spot.
XTB shares received an upward revision from mBank analysts in November, despite quarterly results that marked the company's weakest financial performance since 2022. Analysts cited higher expected profitability per batch and record customer base expansion as key factors for the recommendation.
