cTrader launches Market Replay to transform market histories into trading simulators

Spotware Systems, the publisher of the cTrader trading platform, has just launched Market Replay, a new feature available on the Windows version of cTrader.
This tool allows you to transform historical market data into a real simulation environment. Traders can look back at past market movements, test their reaction to different situations, and put their strategies to the test without risking real money.
The objective is in particular to allow traders to develop their skills through practice and repetition.
Practice using historical market conditions

Using Market Replay is relatively simple. The trader selects a date and time in the history, defines a virtual starting capital then chooses the simulation reading speed.
Replays can run on minute-by-minute opening price data or use tick-by-tick historical data when more precision is needed.
Once the trading simulation is launched, operation is close to that of a real trading session. Users can place and manage their orders with the same functionality as those available in cTrader under normal conditions.
The platform's technical analysis tools can also be used to determine how a strategy would have performed in different market settings.
The playback speed can be adjusted at any time. The trader can slow down the simulation during important phases or speed up quieter periods.
It is also possible to add timestamps in order to mark certain events or important moments and find them later.
Analyse the performance of each session

The Market Replay Trade Watch window brings together several pieces of information allowing you to analyse the progress of a session in detail.
It notably includes the following tabs:
Positions;
Orders;
History;
Equity;
Trading statistics.
The trader can thus follow the evolution of his virtual capital during the simulation, analyse his gains and losses and compare the results obtained with different trading approaches.
The Timeline allows you to connect the orders executed and the different markers recorded during the session. It thus becomes possible to return precisely to the market conditions present at the time a trading decision was taken.
Timestamps can also be exported and imported, allowing a specific market situation to be reproduced later.
A tool also intended for beginner traders
According to Sergey Borisov, Product Manager at Spotware, cTrader is not just for experienced traders. Market Replay should also allow beginners and traders still in the learning phase to progress through practice.
The idea is to be able to test different approaches, repeat the same scenarios and analyze the decisions made, without suffering the financial consequences of a trading error.
Market Replay can thus be used to prepare for a first trading experience, test a manual strategy or review a particularly difficult session.
The functionality can also be used in training workshops, market analyzes or strategy demonstrations.
By allowing traders to work through real historical situations at their own pace, Spotware seeks to enhance the educational aspect of cTrader and help users gain more confidence before moving on to real trading.
cTrader continues to develop its platform
Launched in 2010, cTrader is a trading platform developed by Spotware Systems. It now boasts more than 11 million traders and a presence with more than 300 brokers and prop firms.
The platform notably offers advanced charts, social trading features as well as free cloud execution for trading robots.
In 2026, cTrader also launched official MCP servers for artificial intelligence-assisted trading, allowing AI agents to be connected to certain platform operations.
With Market Replay, Spotware therefore adds a new functionality oriented towards learning, manual backtesting and improving trading skills.
