During the course of a trading day, the publication or announcement of an important statistic / economic event may have a significant influence on market volatility. Most traders are aware of these events and generally avoid having positions open immediately ahead of the statistic being released. Nevertheless, they sometimes forget the timing or even if they are aware of it, they forget the precise moment and inadvertently maintain an open position when the statistic is released.

Because of the significant volatility that may occur, their positions can generate a significant loss, even with a stop protection (due to slippage at the time when the statistic is released).

So as to prevent this situation occurring, IT-LYSE have developed Stat Alert, a software product that alerts traders before statistics are released. Stat Alert runs on Windows XP and Vista and informs the trader of approaching statistic announcements / economic events. Alerts can be customized to remind the trader of the statistic 4 hours, 1hour, 30 minutes, 15 minutes, 5 minutes and 1 minute before the release of important statistic / economic events.
