Interview with founder of 4xdev, a company that codes Expert Advisors and Indicators
4xdev provides traders with the option of having their trading strategy coded into a fully or semi-automated trading robot or a trading tool/indicator. In this interview, 4xdev's founder provides us with a little more information about the company's services.
1. Can you tell me a bit about your business history? In which country is the head office located? How many programmers are currently working with the company and what are the plans for the future?
4xdev Inc. started in 2015 with a team of programmers, the company's head office is located in Toronto, Canada. We now have 5 programmers on our team and in the future, in addition to working with forex tools, we plan to take on projects in other areas.
2. What type of work do most clients ask from you? Is there a typical job/tool or indicator that most traders ask for?
Most often this is the development of custom trend indicators or EAs for MetaTrader 4 or the conversion of indicators and EAs for the Forex Tester backtesting software.
3. Does your company create professional Expert Advisors that customers end up selling in the marketplace, ie copy protected EAs whose security is locked by a subscription code and a password?
Yes, we often develop tools like that which clients can use to sell their automated trading strategies. As for protection, it depends on the platform for which the tool is created. Some platforms already have their own security methods, but if you need a more complex and reliable method, we can provide you with different security options.
4. Can you explain a bit more what converting an EA or indicator to another platform format is? That is, is it an easy or a difficult thing to do? Cheap or expensive?
We usually have to rewrite the entire code from scratch while keeping the logic of the tool, and this can hardly be called a conversion in fact. It all depends on the platform you want to convert your tool to and the format of the source platform. Most important here is the similarity of the two platforms, as well as the logic and processing of the API. The more similar the platforms, the less time it will take to develop the tool and the less it will cost.
In some cases, we convert tools from MT4 to ForexTester for free using a converter.
5. How many different trading platforms do you offer? Can you list them?
We have plenty of experience working with tools for MetaTrader 4/5, Forex Tester 3/4, NinjaTrader, TradingView and cTrader.
6. Can you also explain in more detail how your business does its optimisation work? You say that you "test and improve the tools to maximise their effectiveness". What process do you use to achieve this?
Imagine you have a multi-parameter strategy. All settings must be verified for the policy to work. And it is likely that each parameter has a certain scope. Let's say the TakeProfit goes from 0 to 100, step 5 - it will take 4 combinations. By multiplying all the combinations for each parameter, we get hundreds of combinations. Imagine how long it will take for the strategy to get through all of this ... about a month. We are in the process of developing a powerful tool which will take much less time and which will provide the best options for making profits. In this case, it will take up to 3 hours, and the user will not even have to go through all of this action. He can go for a beer or take singing lessons instead and come back just to see the results.
7. What are the strengths of your business that you think make your business a better choice to work for than your competitors?
We have several strengths that are worth mentioning:
rapid processing of requests (up to 3 days on average, but sometimes up to 5 days, depending on the complexity of the work),
highly reasonable pricing,
ongoing customer support,
free bug fixes until all initial customer specification requirements are met,
the utmost confidentiality of information relating to users and their orders,
a variety of payment methods to choose from.
